Applied Product Thinking
Turn your clinical insight into a clear, structured, monetisable skill.
Learn how to analyse, critique, and stress-test mental health products clinically, ethically, and professionally.
Digital products and AI tools are increasingly shaping mental healthcare. Yet clinicians are rarely trained — or paid — to evaluate them with the rigour they deserve.
Applied Product Training is a short, practice-oriented program that trains therapists how to analyse UX, workflows, features, and AI behaviour using a clinical lens.
The goal is simple: help you turn your clinical insight into a clear, structured, monetisable skill.
This program is the entry point into CQAaS: Clinical Quality Assurance as a Service, a TinT initiative that connects trained clinicians with founders seeking paid, high-quality product critique.
What is Applied Product Training?
Applied Product Training is a 6-week, async program designed for therapists who want to:
- Understand how mental health products actually work
- Identify clinical risks, blind spots, and edge cases
- Evaluate AI-powered features responsibly
- Articulate feedback founders can act on — and pay for
This is not about learning design tools or coding.
It’s about learning how to read products clinically.
Why this matters
In software, Quality Assurance (QA) exists to catch failures before users are harmed.
Mental health products, especially AI-powered ones, raise the stakes even higher. Many failure modes are:
- emotional
- ethical
- contextual
- invisible to product teams
Clinicians are uniquely positioned to surface these risks.
But without structure, feedback stays informal, unpaid, and easy to ignore. Applied Product
Training gives your insight shape, language, and leverage.
How the program works
Duration: 6 weeks (fully async)
- 11 short modules (≈2 per week)
- Each module includes:
- about 2 pages of reading
- a ~3-minute video
- a brief applied exercise
- All together ~20 minutes to consume, ~45 minutes to apply
Miss a week? That’s okay. Everything is self-paced.
What you’ll learn
By the end of the program, you’ll be able to:
- analyse product workflows and user journeys
- critique UX and feature decisions from a clinical standpoint
- identify edge cases, failure modes, and harm pathways
- evaluate AI-powered features without needing technical background
- write structured, high-quality product critiques
All examples and exercises are grounded in real mental health and AI-MH products.
Week 7: Capstone Product Critique
In Week 7, a founder will present their mental health / AI product to the cohort.
You will:
- review the product with guidance
- draft a full clinical product critique
- apply everything you’ve learned in a real-world setting
Clinicians who participate thoughtfully in this exercise graduate into the TinT CQAaS community.
What happens after graduation?
Graduates become part of CQAaS — Clinical Quality Assurance as a Service.
This means:
- you may be contacted for commissioned (paid) Product Critique projects via TinT
- you’re matched to products based on clinical expertise
- TinT handles scoping, structure, and founder coordination
You bring the clinical lens.
TinT brings the product framework and
opportunities.
What you’ll gain
By the end of Applied Product Training, you’ll have:
- A monetisable skill; a structured way to evaluate products and provide high-value feedback that founders will pay for
- Leverage to work as a clinical consultant for tech products
- Your own case-studies that helps you kick start your portfolio
- Insights and critiques from your original perspective to share on your on socials
- entry into a growing clinician-led product advisory community
Who should apply
This program is for therapists who are:
- Curious about mental health tech and AI
- Interested in shaping products, not just using them
- Open to consulting or advisory work
- Willing to think critically and systemically
No prior tech or AI knowledge is required.
